Peer Review Process

Cognitio Artificial Intelligence Journal (COFIJO) implements a double-blind peer review system to ensure the academic quality, originality, and scientific contribution of every manuscript submitted to the journal.

Review Stages

  1. Initial Screening

    • All submitted manuscripts are initially evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief or Section Editor.

    • The editor assesses the manuscript’s relevance to the journal’s focus and scope, compliance with author guidelines, and adherence to publication ethics.

    • Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be desk rejected without external review.

  2. Plagiarism Check

    • Manuscripts passing the initial screening are checked using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin or iThenticate).

    • Manuscripts with a similarity index above 20% will be returned to the author for revision or may be rejected.

  3. Reviewer Assignment

    • Eligible manuscripts are assigned to two independent reviewers with relevant expertise.

    • The review process follows a double-blind policy, meaning both authors and reviewers remain anonymous.

  4. Review Process

    • Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on originality, relevance, methodology, scientific contribution, clarity, and ethical standards.

    • Reviewers may recommend one of the following decisions:

      • Accepted without revision

      • Accepted with minor revisions

      • Accepted with major revisions

      • Rejected

  5. Author Revision

    • Authors are required to respond to reviewers’ comments within a specified time frame.

    • Revisions must be accompanied by a response to reviewers document, detailing the changes made.

  6. Final Decision

    • The Editor-in-Chief makes the final publication decision based on reviewers’ recommendations and authors’ revisions.

    • The editor may request additional review rounds if necessary.

  7. Editing and Publication

    • Accepted manuscripts will undergo copyediting, layout editing, and proofreading before being published online in the upcoming issue.

General Principles

  • The COFIJO review process is conducted objectively, confidentially, and free from conflicts of interest.

  • Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of all manuscripts and refrain from using any information for personal gain.

  • The average turnaround time from submission to final decision is approximately 4–8 weeks, depending on the manuscript’s complexity.
